About me
My name is Anna Ní Dhonnchú. I am a traditional handweaver in County Meath and I am passionate about the conservation of this heritage craft.
I completed the first certified weaving course in Ireland where I learned the practical skills, knowledge and craftmanship under the Master Weaver, John Heena of Ardara Donegal.
In 2022 I got my first traditional loom and never looked back. I now work from my studio in Ráth Chairn, a Gaeltacht area in the heart of the Boyne Valley, County Meath.
My designs draw on inspiration from the chevron and lozenge designs found on the 5000 year old carvings in the Boyne Valley megalithic tombs.
I weave with 100% sheep's wool which is a natural and renewable material. These high quality throws are durable and long-lasting and can become a cherished family heirloom.
Our looms are operated by hand and foot alone, with no need for electricity.
You can purchase your own piece of handwoven tweed from our studio in Ráth Chairn or at various craft fairs around the county.
